Just wanted to update, password reset after the wipe still hasn't worked for me.  I've kept trying since this morning.  I must say, I'm rather confused.  Is there a way I could find out whether the email I'm using is the one linked to the account I want?  Would be nice if we could ask for reset by username as well as by email.  Or perhaps get a manual reset on the wipe for the account in question?

Problem solved, it was due to me sending a reset to a long-dead account made time ago when i got problems, solved with the help of the almighty TIM.

The account with the name of Nurriel2 can be killed safely or it can be left as it is and it will die in time.

As I never needed the email adress for my old account, I completely forgot which one I used on this forum. Probably one of the now defunct email accounts I used for forum registrations (not just on here) that got too spam filled over time.

It's a pity that the way the password change is implemented requires one to use the email address to reactivate, instead of a post login forced change of password to a new one.
This way, the forgot password function would have stayed what it was intended to be, a backup (to give a second option if the first, remembering a password, fails), instead of the only option. 

If one of you admins could disclose to me what adress I used for registering "Unreal2"  (hello TIM ), I would love to bury this account and revert back. If you are not willing to assist, and my gut says I won't be lucky, please feel free to delete, remove, whatever my old one.

You see, the problem was we had a bunch of compromised accounts.  Idiots using super weak passwords that were essentially guessed by bots, then used to shit all over the site.

I already guessed this was the reasoning, But that's why I meant post login forced password change. If so, maybe combined with a lock on email account change for 2 weeks after a password change (I remember having had that on some forum some years back to prevent hostile takeovers), would have worked around infiltrated accounts, as the real users would be able to still reset the password (if they still have the email).

But now I divert to much into a what if..
Would you mind helping me with my request (in my quest to reclaim my original account)?  I seem to be blind today! Saw your message now, thank you so much!

Can't get in to my account "sabotx" had to make a new one to post, sorry. I go thru everything fine but when I try to login with the new 16 character password the wiped password notice page pop up. So is my account loss for ever?

for those who still think that they are in a reset password loop...they are not...cuz i though the same but i figured out that i was using another email for another account this whole time...so the account i was trying to login didnt have a reset password in the first place thats why it looked like a reset password loop..so just check which email is associated with the account ur trying to reset its password
