The number of weeks remaining is also 4 bytes.

Pretty much everything with a number is 4 bytes. Weeks, crew, rations, gems, chests, treasure maps, pistols, whatever.

A quick way to get most of the special items is to freeze the number of chests and maps, and keep using/opening them until you get the special items.
