i was thinking more along the lines of a barbell and a bench. damn i wish i had a bench.

anywho back on topic here, how are we going to sift through all the hacks and fix them so theyre properly under byte or aob. i guess you could automate a search for XX XX XX XX (where it counts the characters and where the spaces are) and flag it for us mods to fill in the fields and such. because a lot of aob hacks have more than just the aob in them, and i dont think you could get a bot to recognize that the replacement aob of 47 or 02 rather than a XX XX XX XX as mentioned above.

and what the hell would glitches, charles rewrites, and such go under.

I'd like to suggest adding a "Notes" textbox to the hack submission page, regardless of type. Sometimes there are conditions or explanations that come with the hacks to make them work or warnings about the hack.

I'm all for the separation of hacks, like TiM said. I think we've discussed the idea a few times before and not to mention it would help Kadat tremendously with the KH Ultra Trainer (if that's still on the table).

Sort of off topic...The ability for mods to add polls. I think it would help in these "town hall" type situations. Add a poll to the top of the forum for users to vote on and then we can call discuss in the forum. Also having the ability to change your vote (say one time?) for those that are swayed by the discussion. Anyway, for what it's worth, that's my two cents. Not like you have enough on your plate right now...

The Notes tab idea has definitely been mentioned before, and it's something I agree with. I'm attracted to the idea  for such things as hack notes, like letting people know any language alterations (variable names in Polish/French/etc.) or other relevant info, such as if a game is obfuscated or encrypted.

Not only are there sometimes multiple AOBs in a single submitted hack, as thenewcomer pointed out, but there are other elements as well to consider before trying to automate the conversion process. Some AOBs are five bytes long. I think we've all seen/posted others that are over 100 bytes long. Will the automation be sure to convert those accurately? And if not, what risk is there that the process won't completely cock up the AOBs that someone worked to uncover? Personally, I'd rather donate my time and energy manually converting AOBs one by one from the old format to the new if it means avoiding the risk of irreperably garbling hacks.

This would also make it easier to work around AOBs that do as I sometimes do: putting xx's in the "change to" line and then postscripting the AOB with an explanation of how the person can input whatever they want to customize gameplay more to their liking, such as changing the force of gravity in a game.

 

There won't be a conversion process.  Basically, it'll be a "from here on out" situation.

I'm looking at 4 types so far.
1) General Hack (Exploits / Glitches / Etc)
2) Simple CE Hack (4 byte, double, etc)
3) Array of Byte Hack (uses the special form)
4) Note

Notes will be equavilent to posts in terms of scoring, and there won't be a character count.

So, I'm thinking points wise....
1) 25
2) 50,
3) 150 + 10/vote (max of another 150).
4) 5

This time around, I won't tolerate people re-submitting other people's hacks.  If they want to resubmit them as the correct type, that's their business.  Last time it was necessity to get everything into the system.  Since it's already there, it's up to the original authors to take care of things if they want to.

This new point system seem more fair than before, i'll do only Simple CE Hack cause i am totally uncapable with AoB and i think is good to prize more people that can make more complicated things.

Meh, anyway, just all jazzed up that I'm working on the site again. :)

Yup, the only thing left to take care of when I posted that was the delete script, and it's taken care of.

I've also rebuilt our topic lists.  It looks so much nicer, and it's SEO friendly!

It definitely does look cleaner. Perfect choices for the colors on the hack entries, i.e. the working/not/edit/delete buttons.

Now all that's left is to wait for everyone to say how much they don't like it. :B

lol, soooo true.  Every time I make a change, we have a dozen people bitching that they hate it.

It's like being a developer for Facebook (except we're not selling off your personal information). People bitch for weeks about the changes but they eventually adapt. Looks good, TiM!

You should try submitting a new hack.  The new AoB system is pretty slick.

As an added bonus, we'll be able to convert AoB's straight to cheat tables or into the KH Ultra Trainer.
