Firefox tips

On Windows, pressing Alt+Tab will bring up a preview of all of your open windows, and pressing Tab while holding in Alt will cycle through them. I'm sure most of you already know this, but did you know you can have the same effect in Firefox?
 

1. Open a new tab and go to about:config
2. Click the "I'll be careful, I promise" button
3. Seach for browser.ctrlTab.previews and double click it to change its value to True
4. Now press Ctrl+Tab to cycle through your open Firefox tabs.

This only works up to 6 tabs. Anything more than that and it'll only show the last 6.

Here are a few more keyboard shortcuts for tabs (they also work in Chrome).

• To switch to the next tab:

  • Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+PgDown

• To switch to the previous tab:

  • Ctrl+Shift+Tab or Ctrl+PgUp

• To switch to a specific tab:

  • Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+8

• To switch to the last tab:

  • Ctrl+9

Cntrl+Shift+K opens what I call inspector mode into web console, Cntrl+Shift+J opens browser console.. huh.. says so right in the dev bar. which opens with Cntrl+Shift+i
Might later recall how to set larger cache size, and disk>ram priority. in the about:config.

Ctrl+Shift+K for the Web Console and Ctrl+Shift+J for Browser Console*

Change URL of new tabs.
In URL bar type about:config
Hit OK/Agree/Whatever
Search for browser.newtab.url
Change value to whatever site you want.
 

I recommend VimFx if you want more keyboard shortcuts.

Edit: I also frequently use Ctrl+Shift+T to reopen the most recently closed tab, and F6 (or O with VimFx) to select the address bar.
